Here is a beginning Reading List -- the books that everyone should read and study in order to actually be a real human being.  And yes, there are MANY others that are worthy of recommendation, in various categories.

Here is our list as of February 2010.

"The Art of Loving" by Eric Fromme. In this classic book on the problems facing all humanity, Fromme describes the science of Love.  This book teaches you "how to love."

"True Believer" by Eric Hoffer.  The quintessential book on cults and mass movements, Hoffer teaches you "how to believe."

"Man and Woman and Child" by H. Percival.  This is perhaps the most important book on who and what we are, and what is our ultimate destiny.

"Language in Thought and Action" by S.I. Hayakawa. This is THE book for "how to think."

"Democracy is Self-Government" by H. Percival.  A "must-read" if you are to grasp what's wrong with modern politics.  The author demonstrates that individual Self-government is the only path to real democracy.

Some great "Red Path" titles:

The Education of Little Tree, a novel.

God is Red by Vine Deloria

Archie Lame Deer, Seeker of Visions

Black Elk Speaks

Some worthwhile books by Nyerges:

"Extreme Simplicity: Homesteading in the City" by Christopher and Dolores Nyerges. This book describes their path to urban self-reliance.  [available from www.ChristopherNyerges.com]

"Self-Sufficient Home: Going Green and Saving Money" by Christopher Nyerges.  Interviews with two dozen folks who practice self-reliance, such as natural cooling, solar water heating, solar electricity, rain collecting, permaculture, alternate toilets, etc.  An excellent introduction to all these topics. Foreword by Actor Carel Struycken.  [available from www.ChristopherNyerges.com]
